ABOUT
Kaveh Etemad-Moghadam
I was born on Christmas of 1972, in Teheran, Iran. At 13 my parents sent me to a boarding school in south of France, where I took a class in black and white photography and learned to print my own black and white photos.
I moved to Los Angeles at the age of 15. I continued taking pictures and at the age of 18, I studied photography at Santa Monica College. Here I learned about the velvia film, a very sharp slide film. It became my favorite 35mm film.
A few years later I went to Sci-Arc, an architecture school in Los Angeles. I learned architecture while I kept taking pictures and I would use the dark room more and more.
Finally I decided to continue with photography as my main profession. Now I enjoy both . Since I have worked both as an architect and a photographer, my knowledge of architecture helps me create unique spaces and perspectives in my photographs.
